What is Virtual Reality?

In geeky terms, Virtual Reality is the term used to describe a three-dimensional, computer-generated environment which can be explored and interacted with by a person. That person becomes part of this virtual world or is immersed within this environment and whilst there, is able to manipulate objects or perform a series of actions.

I don’t play video games. Would I like VR?

We offer a wide range of experiences for all ages and demographics. You don’t have to play video games, you can travel the world, take a tour of a historic site, ride a roller coaster, blast into space, attend a concert or live performance. The possibilities are endless!

This is my first time at Realm, what should I expect?

We look forward to welcoming you to Realm and experiencing the exciting immersive world of virtual reality! You should arrive 15 minutes prior to your allotted time so we can check you in, answer any questions you may have and watch a safety briefing on using the equipment. If you have any other questions our attendants are on hand to help you throughout your session. People may experience unexpected side effects during their VR session as with any motion related entertainment. If you feel sick or uneasy at any point during your session, we ask that you stop your session and notify Realm staff immediately. Realm is designed with safety in mind but be sure to wear appropriate footwear, high heels are not allowed! Each customer/player will be provided with a special shoe cover that fit over your shoes for your experience.

How do I book a time?

You can book your session in person, online or over the phone ahead of time. If you plan to walk-in, feel free to give us a call ahead of time to see if there is any wait. If you would like to book an event, please call or email us for availability.

How many people can play at a time?

We have a total of 10 rigs but each is designed for one player at a time. If you and a friend/s want to play at the same time you can rent two or more rigs and try out a variety of our multiplayer games. If you are with a large group then those not playing are able to watch the action on the big screen TVs from our chill out area.

Do you do Groups or Events?

It is possible to hire out the whole lounge for team building events, stag and hen parties, birthday parties etc. Please contact us for group rates and availability.

Can I play more than one game during my session?

You can only play one game in the 20min session, and generally only one in the 30min session as well. It is at the attendants discretion to change games. In the 60min session you can change your game. Each session is booked on a timeframe basis. You can always extend your session as long as the rig does not have a prior booking.

Is the equipment cleaned between uses?

Yes, our Realm Attendants will clean and sanitize all of the equipment after each use.

Are there any age, weight or height requirements?

VR use is generally acceptable for ages 12 and above. 7-12-year olds will need to be supervised directly by an adult. Motion games require the player to be able to move the harness to trigger the sensors so smaller players might not be able to experience specific titles. Other than that, there are no other age restrictions! VR is not recommended for under 7’s brain development. The waist of the KAT WALK (Deluxe Edition) is adjustable for users of different sizes. The lower part of the waist is worn to provide enough support when the user sits down, but it is not recommended for users above 100KG. It can be used by users with a height of 150-190CM.

Are there any other restrictions?

There will be age restrictions on some of the games, so any children will only be allowed to play age appropriate material. Suitable closed toe flat footwear should be worn. So no jandals, heels, mucky work shoes please. Users may be refused game play if you are not wearing appropriate footwear. As you can imagine the equipment is expensive and sensitive, so food and drink are not allowed near the equipment. As Realm VR is a highly active activity be sure to consult your doctor before visiting. If you have pre-existing serious medical conditions, conditions that affect your ability to safely perform physical activities, Asthma, epilepsy, heart conditions, psychiatric conditions (such as anxiety disorders or post-traumatic stress disorder), or if you are pregnant please talk with us first. You should avoid visiting Realm if you are sick, fatigued, under the influence of intoxicants/drugs, or are not feeling generally well, as it may exacerbate your condition. Intoxicated persons will be refused entry.

I wear glasses, can I use VR?

Some glasses will fit in the headsets, so it is worth coming in and testing the headsets to see if your glasses are compatible. Otherwise we recommend wearing contact lenses if you can.

Can I cancel my booking?

Realm allows rescheduling up to 3 hours before the booking time. Cancellations must be done 24 hours in advance. For cancellations without 24 hours warning, payments will not be refunded.
